86’d is a salty comedy mini-series that follows Monica, the recent inheritor of Downstream Bar and Breakfast, as she convinces the rag-tag members of her team to participate in a staged hold-up to save her family restaurant. Matters are complicated when on the day of the “break-in,” a very famous politician and his pregnant wife stop in to eat, throwing the plan into jeopardy. From there, the series explores the question, “What is the cost of keeping your dream alive?”.
Over a business lunch, Monica discovers her silent partner will no longer float her failing family bar, Dowstream. She is visited by the ghosts of her ancestors who give her a clue as to have to save the day.
At a promotion for Downstream, Monica struggles to convince the team to go along with the robbery. Miri tells the landlord to start showing Downstream to potential buyers.
Jorge, Monica, Chris, Oge, and Omar read the “script” for the robbery. Miri shows Downstream to an app developer who is interested in buying the space.
The team plans the heist, gathers their costumes, and rehearses. Miri realizes she has feelings for Omar.
On the day of the “robbery”, a presidential hopeful and his pregnant wife stop into Downstream to eat, which throws the plan into chaos.
Downstream experiences a real hostage situation. Will the team be able to make it out alive?
